Comment Title: Cougny (1890: 296).

Originally the inscription on the base of Demosthenes' statue in Athens (cf. Plutarch, Dem. 30; Arrian; Photios; Suda).
The epigram also occurs in ms. Monac. gr. 313 (f. 31r), where it does not function as a book epigram.
