Γαζῆς, ὃν τέκε καὶ κόσμησε μαθήμασιν Ἑλλὰς·
ἔσχε δὲ Ἰταλία φωσφόρον ὡς ἑρμηνέα ἴδριν.
Εἰ δὲ μικρὰ πόλις ἄνδρα τόσον κατέχει ἐνὶ τύμβῳ,
μὴ ἀγάσῃ σοφίης γὰρ ἀγνωμοσύνη ὑπερίσχει.
