Palaeographical information | Title in Auszeichnungsmajuskel. The initials of each line are enlarged and the lay-out suggests that the scribe was aware of the metrical nature of the text. |
Contextual information | The poem precedes Sophronius' SS. Cyri et Johannis Miracula and is preceded by another epigram, inc. 'Τίς τάδ' ἔγραψεν; 'Σωφρόνιος.' Πόθεν; 'ἐκ Φοινίκης.''. |

Comment | Lauxtermann (2003: 199) gives ony the title in translation: 'by Seneca the Iatrosophist'. Cameron (1983: 285) gives an erroneous reading of the title: 'Σενέκα ἰατροσοφιστοῦ'. Cameron (1983: 284) refers to this occurrence, relying on the text of AP I.90. In the AP Sophronios, Patriarch of Jerusalem, is mentioned as poet. |
