This book epigram is a carmen figuratum, consisting of a grid of 31 x 31 letters. To read the poem, one has to start with the omikron in the middle of the grid, and then proceed in any direction, horizontal and/or vertical, making as many "turns" as one likes, as long as after 31 letters one ends at one of the four corners. For the principle, see Džurova (1997: 187-188) and Hörandner (2009: 291-292).
Hörandner (2009:292) points to a gnomic verse of Menander with similar content. He also identifies the same grid principle in https://dbbe.ugent.be/occurrences/17247 and https://dbbe.ugent.be/occurrences/17554.
